Hello, dear readers! My apologies for not updating sooner, but a pianist has got to do what a pianist has got to do...which leaves precious little time for blogging. I don't have much to report, but you all deserve something:
I had a wonderful time visiting Church of the Cross, and have since looked in on several other Anglican (and Episcopal) churches. In a way it's all new to me....I've never spent so much time amongst the Anglicans, but at the same time it's all old news. One amusing conversation revealed how familiar I am with The Book of Common Prayer, surprising both myself and my new-friend-of-the-same-pew.
At this point in the adventure it's difficult to give an accurate assessment of precisely what's happening -- my family and I are looking, reading about, visiting, and talking with Anglicans. The hardest part of all of this is that we're in Boston. Really, I mean that. There are moments when I see myself as others see me, which is staunchly (frighteningly?) Reformed! This is a good thing, but it isn't viewed as quite such the good thing by others -- ironically, those others who call themselves Reformed.
There's an
Anglican Catholic Church near my school, and we're planning to go and say hi. Your continued prayers for us are deeply appreciated, thank you, and I've especially treasured the little notes and messages from you all. I've received a lot of encouragement and kindness, on the whole. We have lived in Massachusetts for a year now, and while we are regulars at our tiny local church we are still not members of a church -- it's been hard, but I believe it will all be worth it.
