She began with Philip Larkin's poem, "Days," quoting just the last bit: "Where can we live but days..." to the end. But here is the little wonderful thing in full, and then I have to share a few things for pondering.

Kathleen Norris in Boston
Last night I attended Kathleen Norris' lecture on education and living well, with following Q/A, at Trinity Church in Copley. Needless to say, I'll be paying closer attention to the events at Trinity and the doings of the Humanities Center of Northeastern University.

A Little Perspective
My parents come from incredibly tough backgrounds -- which makes them incredibly tough, and sweet, Christians. If there's only one thing I've learned from my parents, it's how to work hard (and value it). They first knew Christ in their teens and attended various little churches, E-Free specifically, before finding their way to Presbyterianism.

We've been Presbyterians for most of our existence. The one exception being the time my family lived in rural Wisconsin where our options were Lutheran or Wesleyan -- so we were Wesleyan for a few years. This meant submitting to an authority that we found seriously flawed in certain areas, all the while remaining a Reformed family. It was definitely hard work.
